Status of TN Ready Testing
Trenton Special School District
Education Commissioner Candice McQueen announced on April 27 that the State Department of Education will terminate its statewide testing contract with Measurement Inc., effective immediately.†† This is due to Measurement Inc.ís failure to deliver all testing materials for Part II of the TN Ready Assessment.† The major impact of this decision is for students in grades 3-8.
As a result, Trenton Special School District students in grades 3-8 will not be assessed on Part II.†† The district received only partial materials for the administration; and therefore, would not be able to administer any portion of the test.† This applies to math, English language arts, science and social studies.††
TN Ready was designed to be administered in two parts.† Part I was administered in February.† The Department of Education will provide families and educators as much feedback about a studentís raw data from Part I as can be obtained.†
High school and all End of Course testing has not been suspended and will move forward as planned.† These tests will be administered May 2-5.† These tests will be scored and students will receive results.†† Full score reports will be available in the fall of this year as previously expected.†
Administrators and teachers in TSSD have positively embraced the Tennessee Standards and the TN Ready Assessment. †It is disappointing to not receive test results for grades 3-8 to assist in future planning for our students.† It is our belief that students embraced the challenging content and gains have been made.††† The district will continue to strive to bring high quality instruction for our students.
